OUR DIVINE DIVAS

We all know that a winner is never a straight line and everyone has a ball at Gay Bingo each year - but did you know we have a new way our supporters are participating as part of the spectacle at this year's Gay Bingo? In 2019 we launched the Divine Divas initiative (or Project Double D as we affectionately call it) where these amazing people you'll find below will all be drag stars for a night and help us as we raise money for life-saving programs and services at Palmetto Community Care! You will see our Divine Divas helping throughout the night, fundraising for Palmetto Community Care and performing an amazing number choreographed by Tim Brown!

Sign Up Today to be one of this year's Divine Divas!

DIVINE INSPIRATION

Originally from Clover, SC, Tim attended the College of Charleston, where he received a B.A. in Dance, with a concentration in Performance and Choreography. As a Dance major, he participated in the American College Dance Festival and the Alabama Dance Festival working with artists all over the country. While being the President of the Dance Alliance at CofC, Tim worked with the department head as the Assistant Choreographer, staging “The Greek Tragedy: The Bacchae”. He taught master classes for fellow students at the college and set choreography for the spring concert in 2014, from which his choreography was then taken to the American College Dance Festival for adjudication. Tim was a member the College of Charleston Dance Team, performing at games and special events and has since guest taught technique with the CofC 2016 dance team.

After college, Tim has performed and choreographed for the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization, Charleston Dance Festival, Charleston Arts Festival (formally known as Jail Break), and in a Spoleto Festival USA festival-produced Baroque opera production, “Vermonda, l’amazzone di Aragona”. He continued his love of performing with The Charleston Dance Project, a contemporary jazz performance company (2012-2015). Today he is a member of a new contemporary modern dance ensemble in Charleston, The Movement Union, under the direction of Sara Sumner, and enjoys spreading his passion for the art with all his students.

WHY BECOME A DIVINE DIVA?
I am doing this because PCC has done some amazing things for people living with HIV in the Lowcountry. Their work is lifesaving and there is no better way to support than by bringing the diva on for some funds!

DIVINE INSPIRATION A graduate of the Art institute of Charleston and a proud DACA recipient, Jonatan began his career even before moving to Charleston in 2014. Growing up in the small town of Waynesboro Georgia, Jonatan's biggest influence was music and theatre, which led him to be featured in Teen Vogue Magazine. He is an honoree of the 2020's Honor41 list and currently sits on The City of Charleston's Latinx Advisory Council. His passion for helping youth extends into the classroom where he teaches with YoArt Inc. as an adjunct teacher.

Currently, he works at We Are Family, (a southern grassroots non-profit organization that provides affirming spaces for LGBTQI+  and ally youth up to the age of 24 through direct support, leadership development, and community engagement) running their gender inclusive social enterprise, Closet Case Thrift Store.

WHY BECOME A DIVINE DIVA?
Hello! My name is Jaylen (pronouns are they/them) and I’m 19. I decided to become a Divine Diva because of my aspiration to express my creativity and personality more openly than I do daily. I recently gained the courage to participate in more events like this to learn how to improve myself with drag.

WHY BECOME A DIVINE DIVA?

DIVINE INSPIRATION
Francine was introduced to pole in 2014. A fan of bodybuilding and body sculpting, she loves anything that deals with fitness and challenging the human body.  Pole fitness satisfies both disciplines, and she is eager to continually learn and share more and more.
Francine enjoys relieving everyday stresses through pole and strength training and when asked to teach this beautiful and exotic form of dance/workout, Francine jumped at the opportunity. When she is not doing pole fitness, she is an aviation mechanic and mother of three.
